Men's Health Physiotherapy

Improve male continence with Men's Health Physiotherapy

Driven by our Men’s Health physiotherapist, Thomas Harris, we are leading the way in Men’s Pelvic floor and pelvic dysfunction physiotherapy.  Thomas has been working closely with Dr HS Teng, from Ipswich Urology Clinic, helping men to train their pelvic floor muscles before and after their prostatectomy. Utilising the latest in ultrasound technology and application, transperineal real time ultrasound (RTUS) feedback is used to assist in the training of the pelvic floor muscles. These techniques have been learnt from some of Australia’s foremost physiotherapists in the Men’s Health field.

Areas and conditions treated include:
  • Pre-and post-prostatectomy pelvic floor and continence training and rehabilitation
  • Acute and Chronic Pelvic pain
  • Pudendal neuralgia
  • Bowel and bladder dysfunctions
  • Sexual health problems including Peyronie's disease and erectile dysfunction

A man’s pelvic floor plays an important role in day to day activities. The pelvic floor muscles support the bladder and bowel, controlling both urinary and faecal continence. Also assisting in generating and maintaining erections. The pelvic floor muscles also assist in generating and maintaining erections. A properly functioning pelvic floor is integral to improving and reducing Men’s Health conditions.

Men’s health management requires a complete assessment of bladder function, fluid intake and well as viewing pelvic floor contractions using RTUS. Pelvic floor training is taught as required, which may include relaxing part of the pelvic floor and focusing on a different portion of the pelvic floor to improve outcomes. An individual management plan including bladder retraining, hydration strategies, pad management whilst undertaking pelvic floor and functional exercise training.
All Men’s Health physiotherapy consultations are claimable through private health insurance. If you or someone you know is having difficulties with the above contact the clinic today to arrange a private, one-on-one assessment and treatment plan to get you back into life!
